Ford is dedicated to bringing us more electric vehicles in the future. This includes current options like the Mustang Mach-E crossover and the F-150 Lightning truck. Charging is a big part of equation, and the automaker wants to make charging time super-fast.
Ford has partnered with Purdue University to make a charging cable that is able to get at least an 80 percent charge in five minutes. The technology being developed is using a liquid cooling system which phases the liquid into vapor, improving heat dissipation. Currently fast chargers get an 80 percent charge in 20 to 40 minutes. If you could cut that down to five, it makes a world of difference, and we're hoping to see Ford succeed so we can enjoy new Ford EVs here at the dealership that charge fast.
